Community play The Keyhole

A re-enactment of the arrest, trial and execution of James Pratt and John Smith, the last two men to be hanged for sodomy in the UK, in 1835. A community play, designed to commemorate and acknowledge a major injustice, performed at the site where the two were arrested. Free.

CHE Conference

The Annual General Meeting and Conference of CHE, the Campaign for Homosexual Equality. The main speaker will be the writer and critic Nicholas de Jongh. We also plan to show a short film from the 1980s, featuring a well-known CAGS member in a very different context. Light refreshments provided. Capital Quiz

Croydon PrideFest Cabaret Out 4 a good time

The final night of the Southwark Pride Festival. A range of acts including Barberfellas (an offshoot of the Pink Singers), Marcus Reeves (singer-songwriter), Peter Scott-Presland, Lee Griffiths, and Tom Robinson, best known for his song Glad to be Gay. Annual event to show LGBT is alive and kicking in Central London. Those wishing to join the march are advised to contact Opening Doors. If you don't want to march you can join SLG who are meeting at Regent Street/corner with Margaret Street (north of Oxford Circus) at 1pm to watch the parade, preceded by an optional snack or meal at 12 noon in the 5th floor restaurant in John Lewis, Oxford Street, W1C 1DX.

Came and join CAGS and other LGBT groups in the parade (gathering 12:15 in Poplar Walk / North End), and then on to the festival in the Queen's Gardens, for stalls and entertainment. There will be a CAGS stall, also showcasing other local groups.

Aldershot Party (Guildford group)

Members of the former Guildford Area Gay Group are organizing a garden party, in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital. Tickets are £5 and are only available in advance (not on the door). Tickets available for distribution and payment at SLG's 11 July meeting. Train leaves Waterloo 11.53 calling at Clapham Junction 12.00 and arrives Aldershot 12.49. Bring a bottle or equivalent (eg 4 cans). Donations of gay books, mags, videos, DVDs for the charity bookstall would be appreciated.

Several members have arranged to visit Berlin at the beginning of October and would be happy for more members to join them, but everyone needs to make their own travel arrangements, insurance and hotel booking. Tuesday 3 October to Sunday 8 October. Direct flights are provided by BA, Easyjet, Ryanair and Eurowings. The preferred hotel is: Mercure Hotel Berlin Zentrum, Fugger str 8, 10777 Berlin,Other hotels in Berlin with different prices. (It is probably easier to use a booking agent like Expedia for the hotel and book direct with the airline for the flights.)
