Ham Fields Picnic (Teddington Lock)

Meet at Richmond station for a short walk to Ham Fields (cruising area) where you can walk around and we can picnic together. Bring your own food to share and drink.If you are late walk on the East side of the Thames two miles and about 1/4 mile from Teddington Lock leave the towpath and enter the fields near a canoe centre. Catch the 12.28 Reading train from Clapham Junction platform 6.

FILM: Sebastiane

6.10 pm Waterloo Derek Jarman's film of events in the life of St Sebastian at the time of the Roman Empire, including his martyrdom by arrows. In Latin with English subtitles. Contains male nudity. British Film Institute, Southbank, SE1 8XT. Meet by Box Office by 6pm. Tickets £7.20 (concs).

PLAY: How the Vote was Won

Three one-act plays written during the suffrage campaigns in the early 20th century - ‘How the vote was won’ by Cicely Hamilton and Christopher St John, ‘A Chat with Mrs Chicky’ by Evelyn Glover and ‘Press Cuttings’ by George Bernard Shaw. National Portrait Gallery. This free annual exhibition of portraits by promising young artists is always worth seeing. Meet at the entrance in St Martin’s Place, near Trafalgar Square. Preceded at 12.30pm by optional lunch at the Lord Moon of the Mall (Wetherspoons), 16 Whitehall, SW1A 2DY.

Join SLG to see the Story of Reich’s campaign against ‘degenerate’ art and the response in London in 1938 by an exhibition at the New Burlington Galleries in London. Seaside trip to Broadstairs

Join SLG group for this trip. Meet up with Ken and Leanne to spend the day in this attractive seaside town. We are catching the 10.40 train (front carriage) from Victoria arriving at 12.31. We will go for lunch in The Charles Dickens, 5-6 Victoria Parade, Broadstairs, Kent CT10 1QS then spend the afternoon exploring the town. – (Direct return trains leave Broadstairs at 54 mins.past each hour.)
